Decide to become vegetarian, it's one of the best choices you'll ever make.

I would probably have been the least likely candidate to become vegetarian, if you had asked anyone of my family or friends a few years ago. Not only did I think that I loved to eat meat, but I also went out of my way to criticize those who didn't!

My journey began as an experiment, starting on January 1st, 2007, to adopt a strict vegan diet for 30 days. I had read a few rather persuasive articles about the incredible health benefits of a plant based diet, and wondered if I would be able to feel a difference in a month.

To this date, I have not returned to my meat eating lifestyle, and I have been pretty consistent with removing animal products from my diet. I do not label myself as a vegan since I am not always 100% in every ingredient, and since I do not feel that my convictions and politics are strong enough to merit the label. I do however, feel that the pure vegan diet is ideal, and I try to strive towards it as much as possible.

If you have made the decision to cut animal products from your diet entirely, be proud of yourself and don't let the 'skeptics' tell you otherwise. Here are some great counter-arguments for those who would try to deride your diet, courtesy of 'Vegan-Nutritionista.com'

The decision to become vegetarian, from a health perspective, is also sometimes associated with the subject of "Alternative Health". If you wish to learn more about alternative therapies and holistic practices we recommend that you visit Alternatively Healthier.

Even if you do not go out of your way to convert others to vegetarianism (as I do not), you can strive to be confident in the decision you have made and spread the message to others through your actions. There are a lot of myths about the shortcomings of a vegetarian diet, when in fact, the human body can survive...and indeed, thrive without animal products.
Become vegetarian while keeping basic, healthy eating guidlines in mind, and you'll be doing a great service to your health.
