Juicers (Juice Extractors)
What exactly do juicers do? Although I would like to think that I have always been a pretty tech-savvy kind of guy, I have often found myself in the dark concerning the names and uses of various kitchen appliances. At first, I assumed that these machines were just a fancy marketing angle for food processors (a.k.a. 'blenders'.) However, I learned that the function that they perform is significantly more specialized.
The most basic version, a citrus squeezer, may be the most familiar (especially in its manually-operated form.) This is only effective in squeezing the liquid out of citrus fruits such as oranges, grapefruits, limes and lemons. While effective, this appliance is not very versatile, as you decide to expand your juice intake to more than just old fashioned OJ.

A more advanced 'juice extractor', is effective in separating the juice from the pulp of most fruits, vegetables, leafy greens and herbs.
You can find some reviews of various machines (extractors), linked from the previous page. The better quality models are generally not cheap, but they are reasonable if you consider them against other kitchen appliances. The return on investment here is huge, IF you make commitment to using this regularly and to adding fresh juice to your diet. You will feel better if you give it time and stick to it, and at that point, the price will be irrelevant considering the health benefits.
